aboutus
The Youth Chaplaincy Team of the Archdiocese of Cape Town is the result of a seed planted by the Holy Spirit some years ago. Toward the end of 2014, Fr Charles Prince, The Archdiocesan Youth Chaplain, felt moved to call together many key players in youth ministry throughout the Western Cape for a day of prayer and visioning. The results were outstanding and the presence of the Holy Spirit was tangible! By the end of it all, many of those present were so excited by the vision that they felt drawn to committing themselves to bringing this dream to reality in a concrete way. And so the Chaplaincy Team was born.
So what exactly do we do
We offer support, training and networking opportunities to all parish youth groups/leaders in the Archdidiocese, aiming to foster and nurture effective ministry in each parish. We run ministry and leadership training courses, produce and promote faith-sharing resources, keep records of youth groups/leaders and contact info, organize diocesan youth get-togethers, run an annual camp, assist at parish youth events and camps, run evangelical retreats for youth groups and schools, frequently communicate relevant info to parishes, and pray for ministries in the diocese.

our values
Christ-centered: In all that we do we aim to glorify God and build His kingdom. We believe that Jesus Christ is the fullness of the revelation of God and “the face of the Father” and so is the centre and source of all that we do.
Relational: Relationships are central to building Christ’s Kingdom and we put people above processes, procedures and programmes. There is no effective ministry without good relationships.
United: We believe that Jesus is a Good Shepherd who loves to bring His flock together. In working for His kingdom, we desire to bring people from across the diocese to grow together in Christ.
Risky: If there is no risk, there is no need for faith. We dream big and take chances trusting that God’s dream and capabilities are “immeasurably more than we could ever ask for or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20)
Missionary: We believe that “the Church exists to Evangelise” (Evangelii Nuntiandi 14) . Our programmes and services are not an end in themselves, but at the heart of all we do is the deep desire to bring others know the Risen Lord and the fullness of life which can be found only in Him
